I’ve made a lot of cranberry sauces over the years (tropical cranberry sauce, roasted grape, apple and cranberry sauce, cranberry orange relish) and now, I finally decided to just make a basic cranberry sauce.
WHY DID I WAIT!?!? 🙂
This is so super easy, so super good and was perfect with our holiday turkey tonight. Make this. Don’t buy it. You won’t regret it! It cooks up so quickly and it’s the best holiday flavor. I personally like this on top of my turkey instead of gravy. Anyone else?!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Basic Sweet Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
- 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 strip lemon zest
Directions
- Empty a bag of fresh cranberries into a saucepan. Add sugar, lemon zest and 2 tablespoons water to the pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries are soft, about 10 minutes.
- Increase the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and bring to room temperature before enjoying!
