I’ve made a lot of cranberry sauces over the years (tropical cranberry sauce, roasted grape, apple and cranberry sauce, cranberry orange relish) and now, I finally decided to just make a basic cranberry sauce. WHY DID I WAIT!?!? 🙂
This is so super easy, so super good and was perfect with our holiday turkey tonight. Make this. Don’t buy it. You won’t regret it!
Basic Sweet Cranberry Sauce
- 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 strip lemon zest
- Empty a bag of fresh cranberries into a saucepan. Add sugar, lemon zest and 2 tablespoons water to the pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries are soft, about 10 minutes.
- Increase the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and bring to room temperature before enjoying!
