Vanilla Sugar

I think my mom was super ahead of the times when I was a kid. That, or I’m just catching up to her amazing thinking! Let me back up. When I was a kid, my mom used to stick vanilla beans in sugar and I thought it was the strangest thing. Little did I know, it was the secret to making all her baked goods taste extra special.

Fast forward years later, and I’ve started doing the same thing! I just made a new batch today, so I thought I’d share how easy it is to do. Use this sugar as you would in anything you bake. You won’t be sorry you did!

  1. My mom did this too, only this is where she put the vanilla bean pods after she scraped the beans into a recipe. There is still so much flavor in the beans, they impart their perfume magnificently! I do the same thing, of course, in my funny little bunny sugar bowl!
