Homemade Tiramisu

About a month ago, Trevor and I, along with the girls, were back in England visiting family. While we were there, we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Storia. This restaurant is outside of London in a very small town, but we absolutely love it there and go every time we visit!

We were sitting outside in the courtyard enjoying our perfect Italian dinner, deciding where we were going to go for a walk that night after dinner. The owner came out and told us they had just finished making a fresh Tiramisu and we MUST try it. I will tell you this – it’s the only place in the world I’ll eat tiramisu – it’s dynamite!! So we said yes, and we immediately started to enjoy it. I was enjoying it so much that I nearly forgot to snap a picture! Here’s a picture of our favorite, half eaten tiramisu! HA! Honestly, I can still taste this weeks later!

But, for my friends that don’t know – what is Tiramisu? It’s a classic Italian layered dessert that is filled with cream, coffee, lady fingers and some more deliciousness. It’s a decadent dessert that is made at every Italian restaurant, and I imagine, many Italian homes. It’s strong on the coffee flavor but it’s balanced out with the cream. And, it’s a perfect ending to any Italian dinner.

Now, If you don’t like coffee, this dessert is not for you! But if you love rich flavors, this is the absolute most perfect dessert.

So I mentioned before that I can still taste this dessert weeks later, right? Well, I wanted to try to recreate it. This is my best attempt (so far) at recreating Storia’s Tiramisu. I cannot wait to go back and have more next time, but in the meantime, this is a great second.

Do you have a story about your favorite dessert? I’d love to hear it in the comments below. Happy baking!
