Blackened Tilapia

Fish dinners! They’re my go-to during the week (just look at some of the other white fish dinners I’ve made here!). They cook up faster than other proteins and are so so good for you. White fishes are really great because they just take on the flavors of everything surrounding it or put on in.

For dinner tonight, I used a bunch of spices to make a blackened fish and served it along side some jasmine rice and peas. It was prepped and cooked up in 15-minutes and we had a super healthy, delicious meal.

  • 1½ teaspoons paprika
  • 1½ teaspoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges (optional, for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, for cooking

Directions

  1. Combine the paprika, brown sugar, oregano, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and salt in a small bowl; mix until well combined. Sprinkle the spice rub evenly over both sides of the tilapia fillets.

  2. Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large non-stick pan. Cook the fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side until reddish-brown on the outside and flaky on the inside.

  3. Serve immediately with lime wedges. Enjoy!img_8987
