One of the most common questions I tend to get is what do you eat on repeat? I have two answers to that questions:
- This tomato soup and
- This high-protein breakfast below.
I eat this breakfast daily, and it’s one I’ve eaten for a long time… even before this protein-craze began in the food world. I know a lot of people will say hummus + cottage cheese (or cottage cheese in itself)… Yuck!!! But, it really is a great combination.
There are even a ton of food bloggers and influencers who have talked about this combination a lot over the past year – blend them together and use as a spread, combine with shredded turkey, eat them together as a dip, etc… but a simple approach of just putting them on some crunchy toasted bread is how I like it best. The combination of these ingredients is full of protein, carbs and healthy fat. It takes only a few minutes to make, toasting being the longest part of it. And it’s really delicious. Truly!

My Easy High-Protein Breakfast
Ingredients
- 1 large slice sourdough bread, toasted
- 1 tablespoon hummus
- 1/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese
- 1/2 avocado
- Everything-but-the-bagel seasoning, to taste
Directions
- Toast sour dough bread until crunchy. Remove from toaster and spread with a thin layer of hummus. Then, the cottage cheese and top with avocado. Sprinkle with seasoning and enjoy immediately!
