Over this past holiday weekend, we had some family in town visiting us. It was so great! The girls had their cousins to play with and play they did! Theme parks, strawberry picking and tons and tons of swimming! They had the very best time!
The day we went strawberry picking was picture perfect! Blue skies, perfect weather and not a cloud in the sky! We spent hours picking strawberries and playing in the sunflower fields. When we finished strawberry picking, we ended up picking almost 15 lbs (!!!!) of strawberries. That’s a LOT of strawberries. So we ate a bunch on the way home, froze a ton, made Strawberry Shortcake for dessert and a “fancy” strawberry juice drink. Well, not fancy – super easy actually! But the kids wanted something to drink in a fancy glass!
So, homemade strawberry juice it was! These big, plump, juicy berries were naturally sun-sweet, so we didn’t add much sweetener, but if your berries aren’t as sweet, you might have to add a little bit more. Also, only 2 of the kids liked the lime juice so we didn’t put it in for the other kids and they loved it! So play up or down the lime juice, as you prefer!
What a great strawberry-filled day! As the weather gets warmer, I’m looking for more kid-friendly drinks. Let me know which ones you like best in the comments below! Happy cooking!
